Rabbi Elazar HaKapar says: Do not be like an upper lintel which people’s hands cannot reach, nor like one with which people’s faces collide, nor like a threshold that is too high and causes feet to stumble. Rather, be like a lowly threshold which everyone treads upon, for it remains in place even when the rest of the building comes apart.
